Planning decisions can have a great impact on wildlife. New developments can bring both opportunities and threats to the places, plants and animals that are important to us.
The Trust therefore comments on planning applications and forward planning (such as Local Plans and Structure Plans). Sometimes we are able to advise planners that a development may not be a problem for wildlife, on other occasions we make objections and sustain them through to Public Inquiry.
We base our comments on the best scientific information available and on an understanding of policy and law. We work hard to keep our advice both expert and independent. Even where we cannot get involved ourselves we are happy to advise people on how they can influence planning decisions.
If you know of a proposed development and want to let us know about it please do so. We need information in writing, preferably including the number of the Planning Application and a description of where the place is. Within our limited resources we will do our best to help.
