Community Group Advice
River Anton Water Vole Survey by Nick Rowe

formHow we can help

Are you a member of a local environmental group, involved with conservation work?  Or would you like to start a group but don’t know quite where to begin?  Either way we can help you achieve more:

  • We can provide help with getting your new group started; advising on necessary policies, health & safety and funding options
  • We can arrange training days to help you with practical habitat management, survey work or conservation plans
  • We can help connect you with local landowners so that you can perform survey work on a wider scale, with the resulting data having the option of being fed into the county Biodiversity Records Centre

The project so far…

We have begun working with a wide range of community groups, right across the county. Here are some examples:

Local Environment Conservation Groups
We are working with groups across the county. For example The Bordon and Whitehill Environment Group are currently developing a Local Biodiversity Action Plan. We are helping by providing specialist advice to support their production.

Scout Groups
We are working with a group of scouts towards a Group Conservation Badge.  We have surveyed the site and provided a series of suggested conservation activities which the group can perform. We may also provide various forms of training, for example survey work, in the near future depending upon the group’s requirements.

Local Nature Reserves
We are working with a local Wildlife Group to support their goal of getting a Local Nature Reserve designated.

Community Areas
We are working with a parish which has had an area of fen bequeathed to the local community in perpetuity to be used as a wildlife reserve and for environmental education.  We are helping by providing habitat management advice and future wildlife surveys. We are also advising how to help the local primary school with their learning objectives through wildlife investigations on the site.

Pond conservation
We are working with local volunteers in several villages to help them maintain healthy village ponds, rich in wildlife.

New groups
We are working in partnership with other organisations with the goal of developing new conservation groups to be active within the county.
