South East Marine Programme

The South East Marine Programme was formed in 2000 by The Wildlife Trusts of South East England. It was decided that The Trusts needed a dedicated programme that focused on South East seas and their unique habitats, species and pressures, to ensure their conservation aims were extended to this often overlooked environment. The South East Marine Programme aims to:

  • Develop the capacity of the Wildlife Trusts to contribute to both regional and national conservation of marine biodiversity
  • Assist Trusts to raise awareness of the marine environment and anthropogenic impacts
  • Lobby for sustainable use of the marine environment
  • Build relationships with national and local governments and authorities, industry and user groups
