Wildlife and Heritage Walks Project
Over the last two years, we have been working on a project to produce a new Wildlife and Heritage Walks Booklet, thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The project aims to encourage more people to explore the countryside around the Loddon and Eversley heritage area and learn about the heritage and wildlife on our doorstop. The booklet contains 9 walks, and includes lots of interesting facts and photographs about the countryside and how it has changed through the years. Local communities were invited to contribute ideas for the booklet, including any well known landmarks, a forgotten piece of Hampshire history or a particular species that is often seen in the area.
The Children's Drawing Competition to find illustrations for the booklet was a great success. We received over 30 wonderful wildlife drawings from local children. Due to the high standard it was very difficult to choose the winners. We would like to thank everyone that was involved in the competition and congratulate Jessica, Amy, Holly, Tiegan, Laurie, Archie, Stormie, Claire and Josie on their winning entries.
