Walking, Cycling and Horse Riding

Three Castles Path (96 km) An historic route based on the 13th century journeys of King John as he travelled from Windsor to Winchester. Cycling permissible in parts http://www.ramblers.org.uk/info/paths/threecastles.html

Blackwater Valley Path (37 km) A new path following the river Blackwater from its source in Rowhill Nature Reserve to Swallowfield and its confluence with the rivers Whitewater and Loddon. Basingstoke Canal Towpath (54km). A permissive footpath passing through a wide range of habitats from woodland and heathland to wetland and pasture. Experience the history of the canal- including the Second World War tank traps- and enjoy the canal’s special wildlife. Considerate cyclists welcomed. Cycling Discoveries Two specially selected cycle rides around quiet lanes and cycle paths.

Ride 1 (22 miles) A circular ride from Basingstoke Railway Station, offering easy cycling around local villages and the opportunity to absorb the history of Basing House, Milestones Museum and The Vyne House

Ride 2 (20 miles) Utilising quiet lanes, this ride starts and finishes in Odiham and explores some of the area’s hidden gems including the picturesque villages of Crondall, Well, Long Sutton, South Warnborough, Upton Grey and Greywell. Recommended!

Several farms in the area have entered schemes that enable the public to enjoy greater access to the countryside. Landowners can receive payments from DEFRA to allow access though permissive footpaths, bridleways, access land and education access.
