The Loddon & Eversley Heritage Area Project actively promotes rural industry and sees it as central to achieving long term conservation objectives in the area, but these activities need to be carried out in a way that is sensitive to the environment and wildlife.
Our countryside has been shaped by hundreds of years of human involvement and management. The wildlife found in the area has evolved and adapted to live within this landscape and requires the countryside to continue to be sympathetically managed in order to thrive. Sensitive farming and management of woodlands encourage wildlife but as businesses they need our support to succeed.
North east Hampshire has a longstanding reputation for the variety and excellence of its natural produce, ranging from watercress to woodland products and from beef to bread. Farming and forestry remain at the heart of the rural economy. You can help our countryside and wildlife by buying local produce, both food from local farmers and producers as well as local woodland products such as charcoal and garden hurdles from local woodland and coppice workers.
