The work of the Meon Valley Partnership

Who is involved with the partnership?  Meon Valley Partnership Logo

Anyone who lives or has an interest in the Meon Valley is invited to get involved with the activities of the partnership.  We are currently working with landowners, local residents, community groups, parish councils and schools on projects such as river restoration, and species and habitat surveys.  The interest and support of the local community is key to the success of all work carried out by the partnership.

A number of organisations have signed up to a Partnership Agreement which shows a commitment to the work of the partnership.  The current partners are the South Downs National Park Authority, Environment Agency, Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust, Natural England, Winchester City Council, and Portsmouth Water.

Activities of the partnership

south_downs_aonb_sheep_meon_valley_east_meon_copyright_sdjcThe partnership has been very busy over the last few years and is pleased to announce that a number of river restoration projects were completed in 2009.  There have also been a number of species surveys and habitat enhancement works carried out throughout the valley.  All of these activities would not have been possible without the interest and support of the landowners, partner organisations and volunteers, so our thanks go out to them.

Recent and current activities of the partnership include two Ecological Appraisal reports, Land Management Advice, River restoration at Midlington with the Wild Trout Trust, ‘Making Space for Ratty on the Meon’ Project, Non-native species survey and a Public Consultation.
