A Gift in your Will for Wildlife

Landscape/field

Leaving a gift in your will to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is a wonderful way to make a lasting contribution to protecting your local wildlife. Gifts like these, whether small or large, will help us to protect wild places. That, in turn, ensures that precious species can thrive for future generations to enjoy and be inspired by. The recent urgent purchase of Sandy Down in the New Forest was made possible, in part, by money given to the Trust in a will. Just south of Brockenhurst, Sandy Down, contains some of the rarest lowland habitats in lowland Britain. Its nature conservation importance is indicated by its inclusion in a Special Area of Conservation and Site of Special Scientific Interest. Thanks to the Trust being remembered in a supporters will Sandy Down will now be protected in perpetuity for future generations of people and wildlife to enjoy.

Helping our work

The Trust relies on the generosity of our members, volunteers and supporters who leave us gifts in their will. Without such gifts our capacity to carry out our valuable work would be much diminished. Recent legacies have helped us to:

  • pay for the ongoing management of some of our most valuable wildlife reserves
  • provide inspirational environmental activities for children and young people across the two counties
  • complement species recovery programmes to help ensure once-common species such as the otter, water vole, southern damselfly and marsh gentian thrive again in our countryside
