For divers
Recreational SCUBA divers can help with marine conservation by enrolling on the Seasearch scheme. Through Seasearch we train divers in how to identify and survey the species they see whilst pursuing their hobby.
For families
We hold various marine events suitable for families. Activities range from beach art and hand painting to rockpooling and searching for shark and ray eggcases. Check out the events pages for more information.
For people who like getting their feet wet
Anyone can get involved in surveying our local shores through Shoresearch. We organise group events to investigate the marine life on beaches around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, you don't need to have any previous experience.
For people who want clean beaches
We hold beach cleans and litter surveys at Hurst Spit, near Milford-on-Sea, several times a year as part of the Marine Conservation Society's Adopt-A-Beach project. No previous experience is necessary and it's a great way help keep this beautiful section of shore tidy, while collecting valuable data on litter for MCS.
For people who want to help in the office
Volunteers play an essential role in our marine projects by helping us collect data. However, once all the outdoor work is done, our marine projects continue to keep us very busy in the office. We're often in need of volunteers to help us at our headquarters with data entry, collating information and other essential tasks that allow our projects to run smoothly. Please contact the marine officer Amy Dale on AmyD@hwt.org.uk for more information if you'd like to get involved in this way.
For schools
Schools can become involved in our marine work through our Education Centres.
