Conservation Projects

To achieve our vision of wildlife-rich living landscapes and living seas we often work in partnership with others to achieve the maximum benefits for wildlife and for people.  One of the biggest problems affecting the biodiversity of our two counties is the fragmentation of areas of natural habitat, which creates barriers to successful breeding and species migration. Our changing climate and other environmental pressures such as pollution create further problems.

The approach we are taking to tackle this and help wildlife is one of re-joining fragmented habitats to create bigger wildlife-friendly spaces. This gives wildlife the chance to adapt to the changing environment and breed successfully. We are working on a number of conservation projects where this approach is already producing significant benefits. Current projects include the Loddon & Eversley Heritage Project, the Itchen Navigation Heritage Trail Project and the Grazing Project.
