Biodiversity Projects

Oxeye daisies by Debbie KingThe Trust's Biodiversity Team are responsible for a range of biodiversity projects throughout the counties. These projects involve data collation, management and analysis and usually focus on BAP (Biodiversity Action Plan) priority species or habitats. Projects are often delivered in partnership with local authorities, conservation organisations, government agencies and local universities.

The overall aim of all the Trust's biodiversity projects is to gain a greater understanding of the distribution and ecology of particular species. The information gathered is used to monitor change and inform decision-making. Only by sharing information and working with partners can the Trust ensure that appropriate steps are taken to safeguard important habitats and protect vulnerable species.

Biodiversity projects often require volunteer surveyors, so check our volunteering and project pages to search for current opportunities near you. If you are a student interested in carrying out a research project please go to the pages of the Hampshire Biodiversity Partnership  of which the Trust is a member.
