Advice

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust provide advice to a wide range of people.

Farming advice from Ian Stone by Liz Hood

Although we own or manage over 7000 acres of land across the two counties this only represents approximately 0.7% of the overall surface area. Therefore, it is imperative that the Wildlife Trust works with landowners, farmers, land managers and members of the public if we are to see the wildlife rich landscape we desire.

Given that almost 60% of Hampshire and around 65% of the Isle of Wight is farmed, we recognise the key role that farmers have in helping us to protect and enhance our wildlife and  environment.  We advise landowners and farmers about how they can manage their land with wildlife in mind, and can also help farmers to untangle the details of the numerous Government and European Union schemes and initiatives available to them.  We are proud to be fully behind the new Campaign for the Farmed Environment , taking an active role in promoting it  to Hampshire’s farmers.  We also provide information to members of the public about how to encourage wildlife to their gardens, how they can identify and record species and how to make a difference to Hampshire and the Island's wildlife by supporting us or volunteering. We also give advice to schools regarding their grounds and deliver advice through a series of projects which are usually based in particular area

Below are the areas that we are currently working in. If you would like help, pick the area within which your land falls and we would be delighted to help.
