Hampshire Species Groups & Records

Species-focused conservation is an important aspect of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust's work. Our species groups work to promote the conservation of all threatened species in Hampshire and on the Island, as well as establishing and monitoring their distribution.

The Trust’s Groups include:

Hampshire Mammal Group

Hampshire Amphibian & Reptile Group

Hampshire Flora Group

Each group is run by a volunteer committee of dedicated individuals with extensive ecological expertise and knowledge. The groups hold numerous walks, talks and events throughout the year and produce newsletters, which are distributed to members. The groups promote recording and encourage their members to send in records of the species they see in and around Hampshire and the Island.

The groups also form part of a Hampshire-wide recording network for all species and work closely with Hampshire Biodiversity Information Centre (HBIC). HBIC and the Wildlife Trust moderate an e-group forum for local recorders to discuss recording activities, share knowledge and learn about recording events. If you would like to join the e-group please follow this link: Hants Species e-Group

You can make a real contribution to the Trust by becoming involved with any or all of the Trust's species groups. If you would like to join a Species Group, please email feedback@hwt.org.uk with your name and membership number to let us know which groups you would like to join.
