About Us

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is the only charity dedicated to conserving, protecting and enhancing your local wildlife - whatever it is and wherever in the two counties it may be. From otters to orchids, from butterflies to bitterns, from dormice to daisies and from seahorses to sundews we believe wildlife matters. So on land, under the sea, on coasts, in rivers or even in the boggy bits we use our scientific knowledge, influence, expertise and enthusiasm to create a better future for your local natural heritage.

It isn't always easy. Faced with threats such as climate change, increasing urban and suburban development and rising sea levels it can sometimes seem that a wildlife-rich future landscape is a dream. But not if people are prepared to make a stand and ensure that space is made for wildlife to thrive. That is what we do. We are passionate about our work and we know that what we do makes a difference.

But we are not alone. We are supported by our staff, hundreds of volunteers and thousands of members and supporters. Together we are creating two wildlife-rich counties for future generations to enjoy.

We also work in partnership with 46 other Wildlife Trusts around the UK. We are all independently and locally run charities but we see the benefit of working collectively to influence national and regional government policies affecting wildlife.
