Havant, Hayling and Emsworth District Group

The Havant, Hayling and Emsworth District Group invites you to join them for indoor and outdoor events throughout the year to learn more about local wildlife in our area. The District Group also acts as the local ‘ears to the ground' for the Wildlife Trust, promoting and getting involved in local conservation work.

Indoor meetings

We hold monthly meetings indoors during winter, usually on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Warblington School, Southleigh Road, Denvilles. We arrange an interesting programme of talks with examples of recent topics including Nature at Portsdown Hill, Titchfield Haven and Hamble Reserves and the New Forest National Park.

Outdoor visits

We organise a varied programme of outdoor visits and walks to Trust reserves and other places of wildlife interest. Recently we have organised walks to Hazleton Common, Thursley Common and between Portsdown and Denmead.

Other activities

By long standing tradition members of the Havant Hayling and Emsworth District of the Hampshire Wildlife Trust have met on the first day on January each year to enjoy themselves seeing as many species of bird as possible. The list of species has subsequently been published and the contributors and recipients have made a donation to the Trust in appreciation of the pleasure wildlife has given them in the previous year  and in anticipation for the pleasure wildlife will give them in the year to come. This collection amounted to £73.70 last year. Many thanks to all who contributed. For a list of all the birds seen on Jan 1st, 2009, please see the item on the News page.

Occasionally we promote the Trust with a small stand at local shows. We encourage people to join the Trust as members although our meetings are open to all. We also organise practical conservation work on Trust reserves in the area.

Details about all our events and activities can be found in the Trust's Wildlife Events Diary. For further information please call Nigel Johnson on 01489 877324.
