Portsmouth & Portsdown
An Iceland gull is still being watched in the Portsmouth Harbour entrance.
Two Mediterranean gulls have also been seen in the harbour.
There were 2 razorbills in the Naval Base from 23rd to 25th.
On 26th there were 5 purple sandpipers and a rock pipit at Southsea Castle.
Single avocets were seen on the Lake at Farlington Marshes on 27th and 29th .
Also on 27th there were 5 bearded tits on the reserve. Two short-eared owls and a
greenshank were on the reserve on 29th.
Two shags were off the Eastney Ferry jetty on 29th. Earlier in the week one was seen of Southsea Castle.
Havant Hayling & Emsworth
On 23rd an active hedgehog was searching for food in the grass beside Staunton Avenue Hayling Island.
The long staying shore lark was still at the oyster beds on 28th and the even longer staying cattle egret is still at Warblington.
A greenshank was at the Langstone Mill on 23rd.
There was a mistle thrush in the Wade Court fields on 23rd and 25th.
On the same day a red-throated diver was in Langstone Harbour north of the Ferry pontoons.
Two black-necked grebes were off the oyster beds on 24th.
Ten male and 2 female goldeneyes were at Broadmarsh on 26th.
A yellow dung-fly was on hogweed at Brook Meadow Emsworth on 25th.
Crossbills have been feeding on conifer cones in Havant Thicket recently. There were 3 on 26th.
On 28th there were 20 avocets and single green and spotted redshanks in Nutbourne Bay. A seal was seen at the Bosham Channel entrance.
An Iceland gull spent 10 minutes on the Budds fFrm lagoons before flying out to the old sewage outfall for another 30 at dusk on 28th. There were around 50 pintail in the harbour that day.
A hybrid pochard x ferruginous duck was on the Budds fFrm lagoons on 29th.
A great white egret was on the Thorney Deeps on 29th before flying off to the east.
There were around 900 Brent geese and over 500 knot on the western Emsworth shoreline on 29th.
Plants with flowers in the area this week include field pennycress in Juniper Square; white melilot on South Hayling; and three-cornered leek in Beacon Square Emsworth.
Fareham and Gosport
There were at least 7 crossbills and some siskins at West Walk by the car-park on 28th.
Flocks of 9, 5 and 3 buzzards were seen over Titchfield Haven and Stubbington on 29th.
Waterlooville and South Downs
A marsh tit was feeding from a pile of grain at The Rowans on 24th.
Frogs are active in a Waterlooville Pond.
A flock of at least 50 bramblings was present on the Chalton side of Queen Elizabeth Country Park on 29th.
