Are you 13 – 25? Not at school, college or work?

Youth volunteering programme

If so, take part in practical conservation tasks and bushcraft skills – have fun, make friends and learn new skills!

If you fancy trying something new, having fun, getting out in the fresh air, learning new skills and meeting new people - get in touch with us at the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

Join our youth volunteering program for 13 - 25 year olds, who are not in education or work.

Practical conservation sessions are run each Tuesday and every other Saturday, from approx. 9.30am to 2.30pm, all year round on various nature reserves in and around the Southampton area and include such things as:

  • Restoration of woodlands, heaths and grasslands
  • Removal of invasive plants and scrub
  • Cutting down trees and lots of burning
  • Hedgerow management
  • Traditional bushcraft skills
  • Wildlife Surveys

Practical conservation tasks are part of essential work undertaken on nature reserves and directly benefit native wildlife.

We include transport (to and from Southampton, Eastleigh, Totton etc), work boots, waterproofs, work gloves, tools and hot drinks are provided.

The number of hours you spend volunteering can contribute to award schemes such as Duke of Edinburgh and you can attain the John Muir Award (environmental award).
