Lead artist wanted for Winnall Sculpture Trail

Winnall Moors Story-based Sculpture trail

The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust wishes to appoint a lead artist to run a community developed story-based sculpture trail in the public area of Winnall Moors Nature Reserve.
Community arts interpretation is part of a wider restoration project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Interpretation should seek to develop visitor’s sensory, emotional, imaginative and experiential connection with Winnall Moors.

Brief

The lead artist will be required to:
1. Oversee the design and development of a story-based sculpture trail and leaflet.
2. Run community arts workshops to encourage local involvement in the design of the trail & development of the story
3. If required, select suitable contractors/sculptors to produce:
Decorated benches or seating – decoration of high-relief carvings, creating tactile interpretation at approximate 200m intervals
Sculptures & waymarkers – small to medium-sized installations in not immediately –obvious positions around the path network.

Materials to be sustainably sourced

4. Produce an accompanying leaflet with the connecting story
5. Develop brief for themed special event associated with the launch of the trail

Project Timetable

October 2011 to March 2013

Budget

£35,000. Budget will pay for the lead artists time, workshops, materials, installations and subcontracts with other artists, sculptors or contractors, where required.
