White throated sparrows hitch a ride
13 May 2010
Julie Morris, a volunteer for Devon Wildlife Trust sent us the attached email and photograph on May 7th.
"I thought you might be interested to know that when I was travelling back on the Queen Mary 2, we had four white-throated sparrows travelling with us from New York all the way to Southampton. It is likely they may have travelled back when the boat left to go via Hamburg back yesterday, Thursday. They may, however, still be in the Southampton area.
They flew from the rear of the ship regularly to feed, I presume, but managed to keep up and return regularly."
