Small mammal trapping at Itchen Valley Country Park
19 October 2009
A small group of Hampshire Mammal Group members met at Itchen Valley Country Park to discover which small mammal species had been trapped overnight. The group was led by John Buckley who has been running the survey for nearly 20 years.
This year, the group saw common shrew, pygmy shrew, harvest mouse, wood mouse, yellow-necked mouse, field vole and bank vole. The only species missing was water shrew, but maybe we will see one next year!
If you have seen a small mammal, please let Hampshire Mammal Group know by submitting your records.
