Job Description
With funding from a Big Lottery's Access to Nature grant, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is seeking to employ 2 Youth Volunteering Officers to work across the South Hampshire area, to implement a youth volunteering project called PUSHing Down the Barriers. Each of the two posts will cover either the south east or south west of Hampshire.
The project aims to engage young people with the natural world, through practical conservation work, and to help them learn useful social and life skills. The target group of young people would be between the ages of 13 and 19, who may be disadvantaged, or are not in education, employment or training, and/or at risk of social exclusion. In addition to practical conservation work, the project also looks to inspire young people through the use of creative media tools such as photography.
You must be educated to degree level or equivalent and have two years or more experience of working with young people. Ideally, you will have a knowledge of environmental issues, as well as practical conservation skills. A full driving licence is required, with minibus driving qualification an advantage. Communication, organisational and administrative skills are prerequisites for the jobs. Enhanced CRB checks are required for these posts.
