Statement of Corporate Support

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust (the Trust) is committed to improving conditions for wildlife on the ground and in the sea by expanding and enhancing the quality of the wildlife environment and increasing people’s awareness of the significance of that environment for their own lives.  In seeking to integrate the needs of wildlife and people, the Trust promotes conservation initiatives and activities that enable individuals and communities to make choices and take action to help wildlife and wild places across the two counties.

The Trust is pleased to work with corporate supporters who are committed to the Trust’s mission and actively encourages such companies to get involved in its work.  Businesses are at the heart of local, regional and global environment issues. They play a key role influencing the products/services consumers purchase and are influential in the community as employers. In addition to helping the Trust to deliver its vital work, the Trust sees relationships with corporate supporters as opportunities to share expertise and to encourage businesses to integrate the full range of environmental considerations into their business practice. The Trust also believes that a sustainable environment can only be achieved through education and that all corporate supporters can play a vital role in promoting greater environmental awareness and understanding amongst employees and customers.

The Trust expects its corporate supporters to demonstrate a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of their business and protecting the wildlife heritage of our two counties. The Trust can offer advice and work co-operatively with companies to help them achieve this. However the Trust will not work with, or accept membership from, corporate organisations whose activities are fundamentally in conflict with the aims of the Trust.

Acceptance of corporate support does not imply endorsement or support for an organisation’s business activities or practices. The Trust will voice its concerns over issues that threaten wildlife in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and beyond without any compromise towards any company or individual that supports its work. However it would be inappropriate for the Trust to comment or concern itself with the activities of any company on matters that fall outside of the Trust’s charitable objectives.

The Trust reserves the right not to offer or to withdraw membership, or to withdraw from a sponsorship agreement, should a corporate supporter be directly or indirectly causing harm to the interests of the Trust, its staff, volunteers or its programme of conservation work.
